Polluted Living

Polluted Living is a housing project for the Noyo Research Center in Fort Bragg, CA that speaks to the confluence of currents at the site that brings an array of pollution and carcasses to its shoreline, some of which are on display at the current research center. This housing project was completed in two distinct phases: the first was a set of single-family units for on-site researchers and the second is dorm-style units for visitors. Each area took a completely different approach to land use principles and waste management.

This project was completed as part of a cooperative effort with Nicholas Mascoli and Marcela Morales. This effort included a design research phase, master planning for a peninsula in Fort Bragg, CA, cluster design, and building design for the NOYO Center for Marine Science. Master Planning was completed entirely cooperatively, while clusters were distributed among group members and designed within the context of one another’s decisions. Nicholas focused on the Visitor Center, Marcela worked on the Research Building, while I handled the housing. Mine is the only project shown above.
